The possibility of cooperation in the Afghan theatre figured prominently during Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla’s meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov. “Situation in Afghanistan is important for both India and Russia,” Shringla told local media on Thursday following his meetings in Moscow.
Shringla’s visit is expected to help prepare for the annual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Valdimir Putin later this year, people aware of the matter told ET.
